There is only one law enforcement agency in Sierra County—the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies are responsible for patrolling and for operating the small county jail, located in the courthouse office. The population of Sierra County is 3,555. only ten deputies and six correctional officers are employed by the sheriff’s office.
